CEO/CEP stabilization of Ti:sapphire femtosecond lasers without AOM

The carrier-envelope offset frequency and phase of a Ti:sapphire femtosecond laser can be stabilized by directly feeding back to and controlling the output power of the pump laser. The traditional set up employs an acousto-optic modulator (AOM) in the pump beam, but the recently launched finesse pure CEP (Patent pending) from Laser Quantum shows a matching performance to the traditional method (~100 mrad integrated phase noise) but has potential for massive improvement due to the enhanced available modulation bandwidth compared to AOMs (hundreds of kHz versus tens of kHz). What is the LFS?

We listened to our customers and answered the need for better low frequency isolation with the LFS System.  


To enable low frequency vibration isolation, a special sensor was designed to measure low frequency, low level vibrations. The LFS system is in simplest terms, a low frequency sensor to accompany the AVI Series platform. It has a much larger proof mass, so it is able to sense very small vibrations at very low frequencies (down to 0.2 Hz). 


The LFS sensor feeds the vibration levels into the AVI modules, and in a feedforward configuration, produces a force that counteracts the vibration noise. The LFS then provides the AVI Series platform with the ability to isolate sub-hertz vibration noise (beginning at 0.5 Hz).

 
The LFS System also contains a temperature stabilization unit that imparts stability over long periods of time.  Fluctuations in the temperature throughout the day can affect a sensors ability to accurately measure vibrations, which makes the LFS unique in that it is able to compensate for temperature changes in a room during a typical day. 


The LFS is easy to install, requires no maintenance, and can be retrofitted to any existing AVI installation. With its ability to address current and future research requirements, the LFS System positions the AVI Series and Herzan to answer the most critical vibration requirements in the field
